It’s not something that people think about often, but tape plays quite a big part in the medical industry. It’s used in bandages and to secure heart monitors. It’s also used in PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) and used to help place IVs. Tape is everywhere in medicine.

That’s why so many tape companies have produced all kinds of medical tapes, including some great medical tapes from Avery Dennison. They have dedicated a lot of time to creating incredible tapes for the medical industry.

Just to show you how great they are, let’s take a look at some of the medical tapes they make.

Foam Tapes

Foam tapes are a popular kind of tape because they can take a lot of pressure and pulling without ripping. This makes them a great choice for being used in high stress situations. They also allow for a certain degree of comfort and flexibility.

As a result, Avery Dennison has made a fair number of medical foam tapes. Here are a couple of examples.

MED 5910SI

MED 5910SI is a great example of one of Avery Dennison’s foam medical tapes. To get a full idea of what it may be able to do, let’s take a look at some of its specs:

  • Single-coated, soft, and comfortable
  • Thin polyethylene foam
  • Gentle silicon adhesive
  • Great for wound care

MED 5684U

Another good medical foam tape is MED 5684U. Here are some of the main things to know about this tape:

  • Single-coated, thin polyethylene foam
  • Acrylic adhesive
  • High tack and adhesion
  • Good for mounting electrodes and grounding pads for long periods of time
  • High-quality liner makes it great for converting

There are over 20 other medical foam tapes that Avery Dennison makes if neither of these two are what you’re looking for. Many of these tapes are coated with different kinds of adhesives and are designed for different uses. So, you should be able to find one that works for your project.

Film Tapes

Film is another popular kind of carrier found in medical tapes. This is because it tends to be thin and flexible, while being able to provide a good barrier. This makes ideal for several different medical situations.

Let’s go over some of the medical film tapes that Avery Dennison offers.

MED 1827

One of the main film tapes that Avery Dennison has is MED 1827. It has some great parts to it, like:

  • Single-coated, pliable, polyurethane film
  • Acrylic adhesive
  • Comfortable
  • Useful in creating a barrier to assist in reducing the risk of infection
  • Strong PE support sheet that helps with handling and makes it great for kiss cutting, die-cutting, and general converting

MED 1834

If that tape isn’t quite what you’re looking for, there’s also MED 1834. It has similar, but also varying features, like:

  • Double-coated, thin, polyester film
  • Synthetic rubber adhesive
  • High tack
  • Useful with natural and synthetic substrates
  • Heavy liner great for kiss cutting, die-cutting, and converting

With over 80 other film tapes, these two are far from the only options that Avery Dennison has to offer. Like with the foam tapes, each of these tapes has its own unique properties and are better suited for different uses.

Non-Woven Tapes

Non-woven carriers are incredibly common on medical tapes. This is because they are nice and breathable, so they are great to use on patients. They are also strong while still being stretchable.

Here are just a couple of the non-woven medical tapes that Avery Dennison provides.

MED 5701U

As mentioned, non-woven tapes, like MED 5701U, are incredibly popular. This is because tapes like MED 5701U have benefits like:

  • Single-coated, polyester/cellulose blend
  • Solventless acrylic adhesive
  • Breathable
  • Comfortable, allowing for long-term wear

MED 5712SI

Another non-woven tape that you can get from Avery Dennison is MED 5712SI. This non-woven tape is able to boast benefits including:

  • Single-coated, silicone adhesive
  • Easy to tear
  • Hydrophobic, polyester-cellulose non woven carrier
  • Fluorine coating added to allow it to be self-wound without a release liner

These are just two of 30 non-woven tapes. So, there is likely to be the exact tape that you’re looking for from Avery Dennison.

Hydrocolloids

Now we’re going to shift away from different carriers and focus instead on a particular kind of adhesive.

Hydrocolloid is a common kind of adhesive in medical tapes. It is a pressure-sensitive adhesive that is able to absorb a lot of fluid. This makes it great for helping with different surgeries and helping heal wounds.

Given the information above, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Avery Dennison has its fair share of hydrocolloid tapes to choose from. Let’s explore a couple of them.

MED 2190H

If you’ve been looking for your ideal hydrocolloid tape, Avery Dennison has you covered with tapes like MED 2190H. This tape is simple, yet effective, as it has specs like:

  • Transfer tape with a hydrocolloid formulation
  • Quickly helps create ideal conditions for healing wounds
  • High fluid capacity

MED 2196H

Of course, MED 2190H isn’t made for everything. That’s why there are other options, like MED 2196H. This tape is very popular because it is:

  • Transfer tape with moldable hydrocolloid adhesive
  • Made to enhance performance of ostomy pouching systems
  • Helpful in difficult ostomy situations

These are all just examples of the dozens of different medical tapes that Avery Dennison makes. Each of them could be converted to perfectly suit your needs, which is just another benefit to these fantastic tapes.
