Everything You Need for Custom Labels or Packaging

It’s important to us that Walker Tape Converting is your one stop shop for all of your tape converting needs, but we don’t stop there. We are a destination for everything you need for your tape products. From logos to labels to packaging, we have you covered. If you’re using your product in an industrial or production setting and aren’t looking for any type of retail label or packaging, we also have you covered. We have several options to ensure your products are packaged in a way that is most convenient for your application, whether that means your products are bagged, boxed, or rolls are laid out with wax paper between them to keep them from sticking. We will discuss options with you to find something that will be convenient for your current processes. If you’re selling a retail product, you’ll want something a little more involved. That’s why we have a design team in-house for all of your packaging needs. If that’s what you’re looking for, read on to see how the process works and what we’ll need from you to get started.

When it comes to packaging, there isn’t really anything we can’t do for you. Our design team works closely with the best package vendors in the area to ensure we have the best looking and most affordable packaging products around. We can design retail packaging for any products we produce. We can be your full service shop from designing your logo to final artwork files for your final packaging. Below are the services we offer.

Logo Design

If you’re just starting out, we can start from the very beginning and design a logo for your business, the individual product, or both. Our design team is extremely talented and can design anything you’re looking for. We charge by the hour for this service and, depending on your communication, generally have a finished logo for you in 7-10 business days.

There are a few things we’ll need from you to design your logo:

  • The name you’ve chosen
  • Color preferences
  • Font preferences
  • Ideas of the general look/feel of your brand
  • Any specific symbols you’d like in your logo

Packaging Design

We have several in-house options and access to many stock packaging products including:

  • Plastic clamshells for tape rolls
  • Several bottle options
  • Several retail box options
  • Several tin options
  • Several ziploc bag options (printed or clear)
  • Clear bags with inserts or labels
  • Shrink wrapped rolls with labels

We also offer printed bags, however, there is a very large minimum and you can expect at least a four month lead time.

If you’re looking for something more customized than the options above, we can design something in house and work with our packaging vendors to create packaging you will be proud of. This process will involve working closely with our design team. When it comes to packaging there’s a lot to think about. It has to perfectly fit your product, hold up during storage, display, and shipping, and fit your brand aesthetic. There’s a lot that goes into the process, but it’s more than worth it when everything comes together and you see your finished product. Depending on the complexity of your packaging, this process could take anywhere from a couple of weeks to several months. Order minimums will depend on the packaging we design together and the vendor we work with.

Label Design

When you are doing a private label product, you are most likely going to need a custom label.  You are welcome to use your own designer to create your labels, or you can utilize our design team.  Our team has vast experience with designing labels to ensure they are both attractive and abide by all legal standards.

There are several things we will need from you before we can design a label for your product:

  • Logo in vector format (see below for more information)
  • Your own product name
  • Product description
  • Product directions
  • Font preferences
  • Color preferences
  • Any specific symbols you’d like on your label
  • For liquid products: Your contact information

These items are optional but they are preferred if you have them:

  • Your website
  • UPC code (see below for more information)
  • Examples of your other products so we can match branding
  • Examples of other product labels you like and want to emulate

We will add these items to the label for you:

  • Warnings
  • Ingredients
  • Product size (fluid oz for liquid products, measured size for tape products)

Logo in Vector Format

This format allows us to resize your logo without changing the quality of the image. It is usually in either a .ai or a .eps file.  If your logo is in another format such as .jpg or .png there will be pixelation when we resize your logo. Whoever designed your logo should be able to send it to you in vector format.

UPC Code

UPC Codes are the barcodes that they scan when you buy products at the store. Each one is different and must be registered by you to your business. You will need a barcode if you are selling your product to a retailer such as Amazon. We recommend putting a barcode on your product in case you end up needing it in the future for any reason. This is the only step of the process we cannot do for you. We use GS1 Barcodes, you can go here to learn more. Let us know if you have any questions or would like help deciding whether or not you should have a UPC code on your product.

Other things to keep in mind for your label order are minimums, storage, and label changes. When we order labels from the printer, it’s much more affordable to order 5000 labels than to order 1000. Because of this, we typically do 5000 labels as a minimum. Generally you are not charged up front for your labels (unless it’s a special case) because we work label costs into your per-piece cost and keep the labels in our inventory. However, if you change something on your labels you will be charged for the labels that are left in our inventory. This is important to keep in mind when working with our team to design your labels. Some customers assume they can change their labels after their first order. That is obviously possible, but it will cost you more money.

Depending on your consistency in communication, in general you can expect 7-10 days for the design to be finalized, 2-3 weeks for printing, and 5-7 days for production and shipping. You can generally plan on about one month from when you approve label artwork to when you have your finished product order ready to ship. Obviously each project is completely different and these times may vary. We will be up front with you about how long your order should take and keep you informed all throughout the process.

Below are some examples of products we have designed the logos, packaging and labels from start to finish.

Each project we take on is important to us. The more successful your products are, the more successful we are. We keep that in mind every step of the way. If you have a custom tape product in mind, we’d love to hear from you. Feel free to ask us a question any time here.
